Matthew Heimbach and Sven Longshanks discuss what the effects of this could be on the Republican party and what it is about Trump that is polarising people so much. Already the American pundits are starting to change their tune on the BBC news, no longer are they running Trump down for his comments on Moslems and immigrants, but are using them as examples of him conforming to what the majority of Americans want. Now that Ted is gone, the GOP have nobody else left to challenge him and the only option is for them to start supporting Trump. The global media is going to have to change its nuances as well, if they want to stay the right side of the possible next president of America.
Trump has changed the face of politics around the world with his refusal to bow down to the monied interests and by doing so he has encouraged others to do the same. In Britain there will be a referendum on leaving the EU next month and if the vote is to leave, then we could see mainstream politicians taking Trump’s lead and moving to the right as they are forced to face up to the public’s reasons for leaving. Cameron will have to step down and we may even see someone with integrity as Prime Minister at last.
