Dr Matthew Raphael Johnson looks at Serbia under German occupation for this week's episode of The Orthodox Nationalist. Those who seek power shouldn't have it. Gen. Milan Nedic of Serbia (1878-1946) refused the position of prime minister under the German occupation many times. Falsely called a collaborator, Gen. Nedic brought Serbia through some of it’s darkest hours. Collaboration with the foreigners was the only way to effectively neutralize the USSR and their partisan detachments. Since Germany was the primary trading partner of Yugoslavia, the adjustment was economically insignificant, but politically it was very tumultuous. Gen. Nedic was a National Socialist as Ljotic was and as Franco was. Hitler was not seen as the savior of the world, but he was seen as the savior of Europe against the Reds, or as Nedic termed it, the Anglo-Soviet Alliance.
