The Poor Knights of the Temple of Solomon were supposed to guard the routes to the Holy Land, but instead they became the first international bankers.
It is likely they found treasure under the Temple Mount and were guided to this by ancient scrolls similar to the copper scroll from the Qumran collection.
Alongside the banking they also followed gnostic teachings on dualism and practising necromancy and sodomy.
After the king swooped on them and administered justice, a fleet of Templars fled to Scotland where their teachings formed the core of the first Freemasons Lodges.
