The big news this past week us the inevitable U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. This even had the “mainstream” pundits uttering terms such as “decline” in the same sentence as the U.S. empire. With this in mind, it is not hard to imagine a debate within China on whether now should be the time to go ahead and solve the Taiwan question once and for all.
Both China and Russia have taken a very pragmatic approach to dealing with this declining and yet still dangerous globohomo empire and people too often conflate pragmatism with a lack of resolve or a lack of being willing to take more overt measures.
Russia has resisted countless provocations from America, yet when the Ukraine coup was pulled off, Russia’s Black Sea port in Crimea was secured in very short order. While China has thus far opted for the approach of waiting for America to finally finish destroying itself before quietly solving the Taiwan issue, the current situation does offer an opportunity for China to essentially kill two birds with one stone.
While there is no way for us to know what approach China will actually take, it is prudent for us to look at this in the context of how it effects those of us who are observably in the sights of an ever more oppressive regime.
In the Christian specific segment we’ll take a look at what it is that keeps the people so obedient. While a rich man has a hard time coming to the Lord due to focusing on his wealth (that is to say, this is where his heart lies), for the average man, his focus is on simply surviving. While it is sad that a man might lose his soul for the sake of worldly wealth, how much worse is it that a man should lose his soul for nothing more than a few crumbs from the rich man’s table?
