William Lever became a travelling sales representative for his father’s business and from there, built a huge business empire, famed for its benevolent attitude to its employees.

He built a village for them to live in, Port Sunlight and provided all that they needed for self improvement and social necessity.

Sunlight Soap was his first famous brand and he used celebrated artworks to help advertise it.
