It is an observable reality that most people are not only incapable of independent thought but actually abhor the idea. Instead, they wish to pick a team, cheer for that team and be told what they believe/think by the perceived leaders of that team.
Independent thought requires a certain amount of quietness around you. By contrast, most people are dependent on background noise. Be it the 24 hour cable news channel or the radio, they seem to require some sort of stimulus and will avoid any sort of peace and quiet. After all, if things are quiet they might be prompted to start thinking for themselves and that might be unpleasant.
In the Christian specific segment we’ll pose the question: Which is stronger, wickedness or righteousness? In virtually every aspect of our society, wickedness is elevated. Power seems to be exclusively in the hands of the wicked, while the righteous are oppressed and silenced. Yet as Christians we profess victory in Jesus.
But how can we profess this victory when all of the power appears to lie with the wicked? To answer this question, we’ll have to consider the nature of wickedness itself.
