The Orthodox Nationalist: Phenomenology and Aesthetics – TON 062922

Dr Matthew Raphael Johnson’s lecture today deals with the connection between aesthetics and the sexual revolution of the 19th century.

Degas and Manet are treated in particular, as Impressionism was adept at the exposure of the evil underside of revolutionary France.

Several paintings – shown here – are analyzed in their relation to the sexual revolution that came in the wake of the political revolution a few generations before.

As art speaks of its time either positively or negatively, it was a very good means whereby the hypocrisy of the modern world can be exposed.
