Sven Longshanks and Max Musson discuss the later part of Drake’s life, the Armada and his legacy and legend.
Sir Francis Drake had a glorious record of winning battles and taking plunder from Britain’s enemies right up to defeating the Spanish Armada, but after that his luck failed and he lost battle after battle.
Thankfully he was remembered for his triumphs with numerous places named after him and even a longstanding national myth reminiscent of the fabled King Arthur’s return.
