Sven Longshanks and Max Musson discuss the life of the world renowned archaeologist and father of Egyptology.
Sir Flinders Petrie was the first archaeologist to measure the Great Pyramid and made the most accurate survey of Stonehenge ever.
He created standards for archaeological digs that are now followed by all and taught Howard Carter who went on to discover King Tut’s tomb.
Sir Flinders Petrie became fascinated by race as he noticed that the racial types differed between the heights of civilisation and when they began to collapse.
He worked with Sir Francis Galton and Karl Pearson to document the different racial types he found and also devised a way to define race and racial aptitude by skull size.
