Sven Longshanks and PatriArt discuss the situation in Europe at the end of the Roman empire.
Around the 4th century AD various Germanic tribes appeared, at first becoming mercenaries for Rome and then holding her to ransom for huge sums of gold.
Alaric the Goth and Atilla the Hun being notable leaders of those tribes from this time.
The Saxons were the most feared of these fledgling nations, first appearing in the histories under that name in 140AD.
The British King Constantine II was proclaimed emperor and took his British army to Rome to fight against the barbarian hordes.
This left Britain with very little military defence and the Saxon of the Seas took advantage of this to prepare their invasion.
