The Orthodox Nationalist: The Ideology of the White Movement – TON 101922

Dr Matthew Raphael Johnson looks at the White Counterrevolution after the Bolshevik takeover of Russia.

Today's lecture concerns two military theorists of the White Counterrevolution in Russia: General Mikhail Diterichs (1874–1937) and General Peter Nikolaevich Wrangel (1878-1928). 

Diterichs attempted to recreate Old Russia in the Amur Region of the Russian Far East bordering Manchuria in 1922. While short lived, this government was to serve as the foundation for a revived Russia once the Reds were defeated.

For both of these men, Russia was royalist, ethnic and Orthodox. Their ethnic-royalism was meant to preserve the idea of Old Russia for future generations. While these failed at the time – with Diterichs dying in China shortly after the war and Wrangel going into exile –  the fundamental principles of resistance were laid out forever.
