Slezkine thinks that the Jewish radicals in the USSR had ceased to be Jews apart from genetically, but MacDonald shows that they were still showing preference for their own ethnic group.

Much like the founding fathers did not see a need to determine that America should be for north Europeans as it was taken as a given, the Jews in the USSR were so secure in their elite roles that there was no need for them to give voice to their Jewishness.
