Britain started the Eugenics movement and gave it the name.
Eugenic policies were not something new however, they had been going on for centuries under different guises.
One unfortunate feature of the 19th century eugenicists was to use terms like ‘superior’ and ‘inferior’, when ‘desirable’ and ‘less desirable’ may have been better.
