Sven Longshanks looks at a university’s list of ‘harmful’ words and why they need changing.

Stanford University has published a list of words they say are ableist, racist, ageist, colonialist, gender-based etc.

Even the word ‘trigger warning’ now needs removing, because the phrase can cause stress about what is to follow.

Many of the words are respectful, such as brave, grandfather and guru, but if even a tenuous link can imply something is objectively positive or negative, it has to go.
