Successful leadership is always followed by loyalty. However loyalty cannot exist in a singular direction. A leader who receives loyalty from those who follow him, must also reciprocate that loyalty back to his followers. When a leader fails to do this, loyalty from his followers will quickly evaporate, that is unless those followers are in such denial of reality and so devoid of hope that they will cling to literally anything and anyone in the vain hope that some sort of normalcy will be restored. Enter Trump and the January 6 protesters.
In our Christian specific segment we’ll focus on failures in church leadership. While it may seem like we face a vast array of problems, the reality is that those problems stem from a fairly short list of causes. The failures as demonstrated by the MCC can by and large be traced back to a failure in church leadership.
This failure is all encompassing: a failure in preaching, ministering, teaching, you name it. Why is this important? Because when we read and understand the patterns presented to us in the Bible we know that when this occurs, the Lord will take those positions away from those who have been entrusted with them and give them to someone else.
We also know that God likes to use what would otherwise be considered regular run of the mill people. Why does any of this matter? Because for every genuine follower of the faith, you will inevitably be presented with opportunities to speak the truth, minister to others and teach by the way you live. When those opportunities arrive, in that moment it is you who is the preacher. It is you who is the minister. It is you who is the teacher. God’s work will be done and if others fail to carry that work out, He will hand it to those who will!
