Sven Longshanks narrates the experience of a pioneer child who grew up with the Indians but who left them once an adult.

The Indians would usually torture their captives to death, but in some instances they would take a child and raise them alongside the tribe, after killing the parents.

It wasn’t just the Indians that would take scalps, the pioneers would too and some would even go native and join the Indians as adults, these were referred to as ‘refugees’.
