Sven Longshanks looks at the arrest of a French publisher under UK Anti-terror laws for being involved in anti-Macron demonstrations in France.
This law can be used at ports into the country and there is no right to legal representation, no right to silence, all devices can be seized for data retrieval and you can be charged for refusal to hand over passwords.
Paul Golding was arrested under this law a couple of years back, along with other Nationalists before him, but this arrest was of a left wing French publisher who has been involved in protesting France’s increase in retirement age.
The arrest took place at St Pancras train station, rather than at an airport and the questions had nothing to do with any terror threat, but were all about what Ernest Moret thought about French government policy.
It seems the French police could not do this without breaking French law, so they got the UK police to do it instead. Various MEPs have now written to Suella Braverman demanding an explanation.
