Sudan has a very long standing relationship with Britain, going back to the days of Major General Charles Gordon and the Empire.

In more recent times there has been much interest from America, resulting in the country normalising relations with Israel.

It was supposed to be handing the administration over to a civilian government after many years under military rule, but this has resulted in war breaking out between two rival armies.
