Sven Longshanks and Dr Matthew Raphael Johnson look at the Nordstream 2 pipeline and what it means for German/American relations.
Congress are currently looking at hitting over one hundred huge European companies with penalties for working on the pipeline.
This comes on top of previous sanctions in a desperate attempt to prevent Europe taking advantage of the much cheaper gas, which cuts America, Poland and Ukraine out of the deal.
Billions have already been spent on this project and there is not much likelihood of it being stopped now, instead, the sanctions may lead to a complete reversal in relations between Germany and America.
