Geoffrey of Monmouth tied all the previous histories of Britain into one coherent whole that for 500 years was seen as the definitive history of the country.
The book helped with forming a national consciousness between the Britons, Picts, Saxons and Normans.
After looking at Geoffrey’s life, we will look in detail at each of the main kings he wrote about and the evidence that exists for them.
