Sven Longshanks looks at the new Scottish Hate Crimes bill which has united Christians and Atheists in opposition to it.
Rowan Atkinson has joined the Police Federation, The Catholic Church, the Bishops Conference, the Humanist Society and many other concerned citizens and organisations in condemning this Bill.
It seeks to remove the need to prove intent for ‘incitement to hate’ and could leave people open to prosecution for a crime they had no intention or motive for committing.
Even book shops could be prosecuted for selling anything ‘offensive’ and it does not even need a victim to claim a crime had been committed against them.
