Sven Longshanks looks at some of the actions of Britain’s new Home Secretary.
Suella Braverman has intervened again to get police to remove a tweet claiming ‘dead-naming’ is a crime, saying that police forces appear to be confused about what a hate crime actually is.
It is necessary to show malice, hate or ill-will towards a minority, for an offence to be a hate crime.
She is also trying to bring in a new law to restrict climate activists doing daft things, but it could be used to prevent any protests if the police think there could be an impact on public safety.
Braverman has also revived the former Tory promise to reduce immigration down to the tens of thousands, by concentrating on illegal immigration and foreign student visas.
