Today's talk is bought to you by Matthew Raphael Johnson, who addresses an important issue in the Greek War of Independence, 1821-1825. “Inspired” by the French Revolution, a group of wealthy Greek Freemasons, educated abroad, adopted the slogans of 1789 against the Ottoman Empire in Greece, starting the bloody War of Independence. This talk deals with two essays answering the Revolutionary ideology in Greece: the first from Patriarch Anthimos of Jerusalem (1798) and the other (1821) from Patriarch St. Gregory V. Their message is both complex and of tremendous historical value.
