Today's Orthodox Nationalist was completed just hours after Matthew Raphael Johnson's sister died of liver failure at 61. They had been very close for decades and now – quite suddenly – she is no more. The topic of the lecture today is on the “remembrance of death,” which in the Orthodox church, is one of the keys to repentance, rationality and virtue. The Postmodern world is one long conspiracy to drive the reality of (our own) death from the mind, substituting in its place a consumption-based fantasy world. If our death is truly the end and nothing exists beyond the grave, then our lives are vacuous and absurd.
