Lev Tikhomirov (1852-1923) was originally a violent Russian revolutionary and one of the members of the Executive Committee of the Narodnaya Volya (People's Freedom, formerly Land and Liberty, a terrorist group), and even spent a few years in the Peter and Paul fortress
After the assassination of Alexander II, he began to reconsider his views. He not only left the group, but became the most significant monarchist and Orthodox Nationalist writer of his era, shaking the Left to its core. He wrote On Monarchist Statehood to be something of his magnum opus, his mature understanding of the royal state and natural law
