Grandpa Dan looks at distractions in the media and encourages Christians to always question.
The Parish of the Patriots contains one of a kind thought provoking discussion as well as a Christian specific message of a kind you won’t find anywhere else. If you get something out of this show, your voluntary financial support is very much appreciated. If you wish to be a part of that, you can find the information at the bottom of this page.
People are constantly being distracted and controlled by the constant spamming of narratives, outrage, fear porn and uncertainty by the media. Instead of being caught up in the “story of the week”, one is better served by looking at the stories they were peddling to us previously, for in this we will be better prepared to anticipate what the next lie is going to be.
A good way to look at this is to imagine the media is essentially a guy standing there with a laser pointer aimed at the floor and we’re the cats who are supposed to run around trying to catch the ever elusive laser dot. The cat has no idea what is going on around them, as they are too focused on what is being presented in front of them.
If you consider the context of the stories told to us previously, you will be better able to sit back and not waste your time chasing the uncatchable dot on the floor.
In the Christian specific segment we’ll ask the question: “Is it okay to question the Lord?” While it may seem faithful to blindly go along without questioning anything, does this bring us to a greater understanding of God?
The entire purpose of our existence in this world is to gain understanding of the Lord and to become as Christlike as we can while we’re here. Yet how are we to do this if we do not try to resolve and correct our lack of understanding?
Whether it’s understanding God or the world around us, to gain understanding we have to be willing to adjust and even discard the preconceived notions that we find to be incorrect. This is how we grow in both the faith and in our understanding of the Lord.
Bible verses this week will be: Mathew 15:22-28 and Isaiah 55:5-9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”
