Sven Longshanks looks at accusations the royal family are too White and the arrest of anti-monarchy protesters at the coronation.
The Black actress Adjoah Andoh who has a White partner, has upset people by saying on TV that the royal family on the balcony looked ‘terribly white’.
In any other instance, she would probably get a pat on the back for this, but the royal family are royal because of their ancestry, not because they have been voted into the position.
Protesters against the coronation were prevented from creating a breach of the peace by the Police who arrested them and they also seem to be unaware that the title is hereditary, as they wanted to say that Charles was not their king.
The Police have now said they regret the arrests and are dropping the charges, but surely the right of the people to observe the coronation in peace is what matters here.
