Today's Orthodox Nationalist will deal with the semi-revolutionary thought of Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778). As a scholar, he is credited with a great number of things, but one of the most common is that he was the intellectual engine of revolutionary politics in France and the ideological precursor to the French Revolution. Like almost all intellectual clichés, this assertion is incorrect. Rousseau was not a revolutionary, but rejected much of the modern world, making him difficult for the Jacobins to follow.
