Predictably, the US condemned the government's crackdown and even placed sanctions on the President, the nationalist Nayib Bukele. Very much like president Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines, a leader took aim at crime, drugs and gangs and rapidly won, showing how phony the US “war on drugs” truly is. El Salvador is being reborn, and the Regime is enraged.
