Sven Longshanks looks at a new report that claims the Metropolitan Police are institutionally racist.
The Casey Review concludes that the Black community are being over-policed, but as cancelled academic Noah Carl points out, when you look at the demographics of people incarcerated for homicide, they are actually being under-policed.
The homicide numbers are the same proportion in England, Wales and America, as well as in London. So is this racism in the police, or simply a higher crime rate within this particular group?
The report also shows there is a belief that standards have been lowered to encourage more BAME people to join, which has been confirmed by the very investigator responsible for assessing the police, but the report compiler claims it is simply a ‘myth’.
