The Daily Nationalist: Ireland’s New Hate Speech Law – DN 050323

Sven Longshanks looks at the new law that assumes a person is guilty, rather than innocent.

The new law assumes an intent to incite hate by distribution and it will be up to the person accused to prove their innocence.

Simply having a copy of statistics on race and IQ on a device could be all that is required for a person to end up with a 5 year jail sentence.

The designation ‘hate criminal’ would also stay with the person for the purposes of background checks on what jobs they could apply for.

This would prevent any criticism of government policy concerning groups with protected characteristics, including immigration policy.
